Thom Ernst
Thom Ernst is the producer and host of Saturday Night at the Movies, and has been with the team since 1998. He made his on-camera debut as part of his new hosting duties in September, 2010. He is also a playwright, a freelance writer, a film columnist and an on-air critic. Thom's career in broadcasting began in public and community radio where he hosted a two-hour arts and entertainment show. He's covered 15 years of the Toronto International Film Festival and has appeared as a regular film critic and commentator on TVO's More to Life, Studio 2 and The Agenda with Steve Paikin. He was also the on-air film reviewer for CBC's Play with Jian Ghomeshi. Thom wrote and co-produced the short film, Rosa's Time, which appeared at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, the Toronto Short Film Festival and the Edmonton Film Festival. Thom has a bi-weekly column in Toromagazine.com where he covers film and does in-depth one-on-one interviews with filmmakers, screenwriters, actors and authors. Follow Thom on Twitter. |

Alex Huls
Alex Huls is a researcher and blog contributor for Saturday Night at the Movies and has been with the team since 2008. He became a film buff when he threw himself into AFI's list of the 100 Best American Movies, and he became a film scholar when he watched "Stagecoach" on Saturday Night at the Movies in 2001. It led him to eventually pursue a Masters Degree in Film Studies at York University and join the SNAM team. Alex has written articles on pop culture and movies for the web, and for two years was an Editor-in-Chief for the movie blog theREELaddict.com. He is also an aspiring screenwriter.
